We were formed in the summer of 1992. Originally this area was a part of the New Brunswick ASC. It was felt we could better carry the message locally if we formed our own area. As with all new areas there have been some growing pains. However, we have lived up to our early expectations and have been sucessful offering services to our community.
Shortly after forming the ASC we joined the North East Atlantic Region of Narcotics Anonymous and we have been a active member ever since.
Committees:
Hospital & Institutions This committee has been consistant in it's efforts to carry a message of hope monthly to the Saint John Regional Correctional Center and Ridgewood Rehabilitaion Center. The meetings bring experienced Narcotics Anonymous members into facilities where isolated people can hear the Narcotics Anonymous message.
Public Information This committee is younger then it's sister committe - H&I. However, they have been very effective in informing the public about Narcotics Anonymous. There efforts include poster campaigns, community presentations to professionls, school presentaions, and workshops. The PI Committee is responsible to ensure accurate information for group listing in local media as well as maintaining this website and all other forms of Public Relations efforts. One of there major accomplishments is having established a tool free provincial meeting information phone line.
